It was Assheton Ladies who won the day at the recent Double Worcester Tournament held at Spinners Mill, Leigh.

In the Ladies Recurve it was Gold & Silver for Kate & Liz with Sam, who got exactly the same points – 488 – as 3rd place,  but was just pushed out of the Bronze slot into 4th by 37 to 36 centres, how close can you get? Jane came a creditable 5th.

Evie won Gold in the Junior Ladies Longbow competition.

Later confirmed that both Kate and Evie each also set two new LAA County records.

Well done to all the Assheton Ladies.

Assheton men also fared well with Josh picking up Silver in the Junior Gents Compound competition.

Hamish won Bronze and Ian came 4th in the Men’s Longbow event.

Bob came 4th and Darren 8th in the hotly contested Men’s Recurve competition while Terry came 4th in the Men’s Barebow. In another highly contested competition, the Men’s Compound, Luke came 6th and Myles 8th.

Well done to all Assheton Archers, great to see so many Assheton colours at the event. In fact a very surprised Head Judge asked “if we had all come on a coach”.

The next big local competition is the Wigan & Orrell Portsmouth on the 26th January at Bamber Bridge. We will be up against some stronger competition but lets see if we can bring back some more “bling”.
